CarltonForumLeisureCentreWet&DrySideChangingRoomRefurbishment

THE CLIENT

Gedling Borough Council based at the Civic Centre, Arnold, Nottingham, managed the project and also acted in the capacity as CA.

All work was effected at Carlton Forum Leisure Centre, Carlton, Nottingham.

THE PROJECT

The project, which was awarded to Phoenix under competitive tender, comprised of the internal refurbishment and alterations to the "dry side" facilities of the Centre.
This involved the complete remodelling of the Male & Female toilet and changing room facilities and incorporated provisions for a new Sauna and Steam Room facilities and a Monsoon shower.

This project proved how excellent client/contractor comms can significantly enhance and improve the original project expectations whilst at the same time adhering to strict financial mandates.

As the project progressed, Phoenix put forward a number of design changes for the clients due consideration. Although many of the proposals were cosmetic and involved the final finishes schedules, others also encompassed new lighting and M&E recommendations.

Phoenix utilised their in house joiners, electricians, plumbers and decorators together with an element of locally employed operatives who, under the due direction of their contract Manager, were able to offer enormous flexibility to accommodate the various modifications.

The client embraced the proposals put forward and they were duly implemented during the construction phase. The final result?
Spectacular !

TESTIMONIAL

The work was carried out to a high standardof finish and in a safe and considerate manner, which was crucial given the proximity of the works to the grounds of the school and the fact that the building was still in use throughout the duration of the project. The work was completed one week later than originally programmed, but this was highlighted early by the contractor and was considered justified in the light of additional works and changes to the original specification. The Contract was completed to budget, notwithstanding additional costs associated with unforeseen items and specification changes. There were no Contractual issuesduring the Project. The Contractor was helpful and enthusiastic throughout the project in order to resolve problems and to provide the best possible finish for the customer.

As the Principal Designer and Contract Administrator for the above contract i would employ Phoenix Property Solutions in the future.
