THE CLIENT

Erewash Borough Council based at the Ilkeston Town Hall, Ilkeston, managed the project and also acted in the capacity as Contract Administrator.

All work was effected at West Park Leisure Centre, Long Eaton, Nottingham.

THE PROJECT

The project, which was awarded to Phoenix under competitive tender, comprised of the internal refurbishment and alterations to the "dry side" facilities of the Centre.
This involved the complete remodelling of the toilet and changing room facilities including showers. In addition, office conversions and additional works were effected to the reception and circulation areas.

The works were commenced on 18thApril 2016 with a completion date of 1stJuly 2016

Contract value; £160,000

Works started with the complete demolition of all existing fixture and fittings to both male and female changing rooms.

The particular works undertaken comprised:-

Phoenix utilised their in house joiners, electricians, plumbers and decorators together with an element of locally employed operatives under the due direction of the Contract manager.

Weekly H&S inspections were made by the Phoenix H&S manager to ensure all safety protocols were in place and active.

Health & Safety

Employing successful health and safety protocols in the workplace has always been paramount for Phoenix who have their own H&S department ensuring not only the safety of their operatives, but that client personnel and the public are protected from construction activities at all times.

At WPLC, there were initially significant potential risks due primarily to the fact that the Leisure centre - which is a very popular venue with significant footfall - remained open to the public during the project.

A plan was subsequently developed and approved by the CA whereupon all construction activities were completely segregated by the use of full height hoardings internally with manned and protected access points, and due signage employed. In addition, bespoke external building construction access areas were heras fenced off prohibiting public access to any working areas.

TESTIMONIAL

To Whom it may Concern,

Phoenix was selected to carry out a refurbishment to the chnging rooms to one of our leisure sites following a competative tendering process. I found Phoenix very accomodating and the quality of work good. They had good Health & Safety practices and were happy to implement additional measures when requested. I worked closely with the contracts Manager and site Supervisors, so when any issues arose we worked together to find solutions that were cost effective to ensure the budget was kept on track. The Project came in with a slight over spend but this was because of additional works requested by me. I was happy with the project that was delivered and i would reccommend Phoenix
